Roddick, Anita, Take it personally: how globalisation affects you and powerful ways to challenge it

A summary of the state of anti-globalisation politics in early 2001.

This review is written in mid-2003. This book was written mid-2001. It is surprising how much our mindset has changed. This book contains perhaps one mention of terrorism, and not any mention of war or peace.

Written the founder of the Body Shop chain of stores and published by Harper Collins (part of News), this exposé of globalisation contains contributions by Naomi Klein, Ralph Nader, Aug San Suu Kyi, the Rainforest Action Network and Greenpeace, among others.

Concludes with a short introduction to Buddhism by Ven. Santikaro.

The book is rather short on solutions. Its suggestions for action are along the lines of read more, join up — yes but then what? This can just be a recipe for frustration, like, there are all these terrible things happening but there is nothing you can do about it.
