How not to upgrade Subversion

The unfortunate results of a distribution upgrade.

I have discovered how not to upgrade Subversion...

  1. Download and install Subversion from RPMs.
  2. Upgrade to Fedora Core 3. Automatically install Subversion package.
  3. Check utilities, everything seems to work, except...
  4. svn gives weird error messages.
  5. Raise bug on Subversion website.
  6. Get flamed by Subversion person.
  7. Raise bug on Subversion mailing list.
  8. Follow advice on Subversion mailing list.
  9. svn still gives weird error messages.
  10. Backup everything, delete Linux partition, reinstall FC3.
  11. svn now works. Try svn update.
  12. Get weird error messages from Subversion. Should have dumped repository before upgrade.
  13. Throw away old Subversion repository, create new repository.

Other than that it has been straightforward.
