How to waste an evening

I spent a whole evening fixing my PC.

Today, I discovered that the reinstallation of Fedora Core 3 had made Windows XP unbootable. Eventually, I found a utility that restored my Master Boot Record.

Also I installed the NVIDIA driver, after which my system just hung during boot. Apparently, this is caused by the Red Hat Graphical Boot.
