Buksbazen, John Daishin, Zen Meditation in plain English

This is a good basic introduction to Zen Buddhist practice in the North American tradition.

This book describes the practical steps that a beginning student of Zen practice shoudl undertake.

This is not a description of the history of Zen or of Buddhism, and it is not not an explanation of East Asian culture.

Rather it focusses on techniques for meditation and on the sesshin.

The author is a teacher at the Zen Centre of Los Angeles and also a practicing psychoanalyst.
